Unique to this area of law is the use of forensic experts such as pathologists, ballistic (firearm) experts, and even gang experts. Recent changes to the sentencing laws have dramatically increased the punishment for violent offenses. Offenses involving firearms and gangs can potentially result in life sentences. I am experienced in trying cases involving violence, and can successfully cross examine the prosecution’s forensic experts.
I have been appointed by the Board of Governors of the California State Bar as a member of the Criminal Law Section Executive Committee. The Committee oversees the Criminal Law Section of the State Bar and is responsible for educating attorneys concerning state and federal criminal law and procedure, and reviewing and commenting on proposed legislation and jury instructions. I will serve a three year term as a member of the Executive Committee (2011 — 2014).
